SLO Half Marathon and Relay Races: April 26-28, 2019
The annual San Luis Obispo Half Marathon and Relay Races is coming April 26-28, 2019. This event welcomes professional athletes as well as first-timers to come and experience fun for the whole family. Participants can choose from four-course length options: a half marathon and half marathon relay, 5k run/walk and kids’ races, including the kids’ one-mile race and children’s quarter-mile dash.
Anyone can create a team for any event besides the kids’ races, and it is a great way to gather friends or coworkers for a healthy dose of competition and camaraderie. Sign up for the half marathon with a few of your coworkers for the Corporate Relay Challenge. On top of representing your business, corporate teams receive a free spot at the finish line for their company pop-up and have the chance to earn the Corporate Cup with a discount invite to an 8-week SPRING Training program.
Whether you’re participating in the race or not you can still enjoy the three-day Race SLO Festival. On Friday, April 26, bring your own yoga mat for the YogaMusic Fest, sponsored by Cal Poly SLO and Whalebird Kombucha. This yoga influenced day will feature local DJs, 60-minute yoga workouts like sweaty strength, dance party and vinyasa flow, as well as hot food, beer, non-alcoholic drinks, and of course, Whalebird Kombucha. The Race SLO Festival will continue on Saturday, April 27, with the 5k and kids races along with a complete day of live music, food, drinks, massage, and vendors. And on Sunday, April 28, the Race SLO Festival will wrap up with the half marathon race and half marathon relay race.
With a beautiful 2019 course, runners will experience a scenic loop through San Luis Obispo, beginning and ending at the Madonna Inn. The scenic route winds through Downtown San Luis Obispo, passing Mission San Luis Obispo de Tolosa and traverses through the Railroad District, featuring charming bungalows and historic Victorians.
As if the beautiful weather in San Luis Obispo and the lush, rolling hills aren’t enough incentive to stick around, runners can relax and enjoy the entire weekend in San Luis Obispo and find plenty of wonderful things to do in town. From the Thursday Night Farmers’ Market to wine tasting in Edna Valley, there really is something for everyone. Don’t miss out on the delicious local restaurants in Downtown SLO, where race participants can refuel and recharge. Register for the race today and book your stay in San Luis Obispo.
